Larry Penix, a hospital chaplain from Pikeville, Ky, bicycled Boone Trace from Martin Station at the Wilderness Road State Park eight miles from the Cumberland Gap in Virginia to Boonesborough. On May 15, he met with the two hikers, Givan Fox and Curtis Penix, the latter with whom he is a distant relative. He then set out on his own, and biked the route of Boone Trace over six days, where the hikers took 16 days. Go to the link and scroll backwards for a day-to-day narrative of his trip. He recounts his adventure on the bicycle with many excellent photos.
