WALK ON BOONE TRACE

Part of the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day

2.8 mile one-way hike along a one lane, paved segment of the original Boone Trace, the first road, EVER, into the land that was to become Kentucky! It was blazed by Daniel Boone (the real one) and his group of axemen during the months of March and April 1775. It started the westward movement through our entire country and is therefore extremely important in our history. The hike will be accompanied by re-enactors in period dress and a variety of displays. We will gather at the tourism office in Barbourville, KY located at 117 High Street, register and then drive to the entry point. Private vehicles will be appreciated but a van/bus will be available for entry and pick-up. Water will be offered during the hike. After return to the Tourism office, we will then have a re-cap of the hike and refreshments offered. Fee is $20, paid at registration, and includes a "Keepers of Boone Trace" tee shirt. We need your shirt size, and the deadline to order shirt is May 10. Come out, get healthy and learn a little history. Fun!
